axis mundi

who                    what                    when                    where                    why                    how                 back

The series was based on the the ancient idea of an”axis mundi,” or symbolic center of the world a connection between earth and sky. It is a place where four points on a compass unite where. It acts as a means of travel between the two realms of the seen and the unseen. It is a “center of the world,” as it was thought of a center of one’s know universe. In this series of works I used myself and my point of perception as the observer as a physical representation of an axis mundi. I used a set of cameras strapped one to my front and the other to my back to record my movement as a physical center of perception.
