Lies and Whispers
Lies and Whispers
Original work was composed of nine separate small (3x5) digital LCD screens fixed together in a metal frame. The images were done by painting the lips of the "whisperers" blue, so that I could mask out the skin color from the lip color and then modify the two into infinite variations. The original construction was a rather cumbersome and this iteration presents all nine variations on one screen. Based on the the 1965 song "What the World Needs Now Is Love" a popular song with lyrics by Hal David and music composed by Burt Bacharach. I see it as a social commentary on how we dream of peace but create a world of violence and greed instead.
