you are my sunshine
Based on readings from the book, "Field Notes From A Catastrophe," by Elizabeth Kolbert along with personal observations and understandings of the changes in natures cycles. The work is a reflection on change in nature, politics, economies and ourselves, especially when we are unwilling or in denial of those changes as they happen regardless of our efforts. The work is an aesthetic reply to those who think there is no shift occurring in our natural world externally or internally. Two separate videos, one of the artist shivering naked in a loop and the other of a fireplace crackling, are projected onto 3/4's of a ton of melting ice. The time-based work lasts only as long as the ice itself. As the night wore on the image of the flames on one side began to composite with the image of the freezing artist on the other.
